No Going Back

Welcome to my website,

I hope you will find in these pages not only information about my experience but that you will also learn a bit more about what I'm like to work with. I am principally an advocate and have been lucky to have led excellent teams in some of the most challenging and high profile cases of recent years. I look forward not only to working with you, but also to having your feed back on this site – any queries, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Richard Lissack.

Richard has been admitted to the bars of New York (as a Foreign Legal Consultant), the Eastern Caribbean and Northern Ireland (as a QC), and has been instrumental in the opening of an annex in Abu Dhabi. The latest Legal Directories list Richard as a leader in his field, or a legal expert in nine areas of Law: Banking & Finance, Financial Services, Commercial Litigation, Fraud, Employment, Professional Discipline & Regulatory Law, Health & Safety, Administrative & Public Law: Public Inquiries; Clinical Negligence & Healthcare.

Jane Jenkins, Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer comments, "I recently instructed Richard to advise on a health and safety matter and chose Richard from a short list on the basis of his track record and accessibility - the first call he took was from his ski-ing holiday. I found him very approachable and client friendly. He provided a thorough and clear analysis of the issues and user friendly advice. He has a formidable grasp of his area of expertise and approached the case with interest and enthusiasm. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Richard again."

The key Legal Directories are equally complimentary:

Legal 500 comments on the "many high-profile" cases Richard has appeared in and goes on to say, Praise could not be higher for “first-choice QC” Richard Lissack QC He is a “true leader in his field”, combining “thorough forensic brilliance, a tactical approach, first-rate legal analysis and charm”. Leading solicitors commented “it's hard to find someone better” and "he is seriously good" and a "dependable heavyweight". “Economical in his approach” and “a master at managing information”, Richard has “unsurpassed experience” in corporate manslaughter and public inquiries and “is the man you'd turn to for an Inquiry”. Sources agree that his criminal background puts him in good stead to respond to the increased use by the FSA of its criminal powers. He explains complex legal points "entirely without pomposity" and "puts clients at ease, working as part of a team.” “A skilled adviser” on corporate manslaughter issues, Richard has been involved in most of the main cases of commercial liability under health and safety law and recently led the prosecution in the Hatfield trial where he "won the respect of the whole industry". As Andrew Clark Litigation Partner at Allen & Overy put it, "I first worked with Richard on a substantial public inquiry matter. When we started work on the case, Richard already had a strong existing relationship with the client who greatly valued his advice and guidance. I and the rest of my team quickly established a first class working relationship with Richard. He has a clear sense of strategy and keeps the overall objective of the client firmly in his sights. He is doggedly determined and has that rare balance of not leading the team down blind alleys but always ensuring that points that can properly be taken have been fully exploited. Richard is highly personable and working with him has always been greatly enjoyable."

Here are some of the more notable cases in which he has appeared:
